News Admin preferences

Every user can customize the news-application to suit their needs.

The system administrator can determine which of the settings shall be made available to users. There are so-called:

  • Forced preferences: Preferences forced by the system administrator which cannot be changed by the user.
  • Default preferences: The default preferences are recommended (given) in various fields.
  • Your (personal) preferences: These preferences can be modified. If you do not make a selection or an entry, the system administrator’s default preferences will be utilized. Since you cannot change the ‘Required preferences’ these are not shown.

It may be that you will not even be able to see or change all of the following settings!

Possible preference settings are:
  • Show news articles on main page?: This is where you can set whether news items should be displayed on the main page (directly after login). You can choose from 'Yes’, 'No' and 'Yes, narrow view'. In order to save space this last option shows only the headlines and teasers on the main page.
  • Number of articles to display on the main screen: Determine how many news items should be displayed on the main page.
  • Features of the editor?: You can determine how many icons and toolbars the Editor displays. By choosing ‘Simple' you will only be able to adjust the font and size but not insert any images. It is recommended to use the 'Regular' to insert images and tables, while maintaining the number of functions at a reasonable level. If this should not suit your needs, you can also set your preference to ‘Everything’ which provides you with the full functionality of the text editor.

Underneath are four buttons to [Save], [Apply], [Cancel] and hide/unhide [Help].
